Clerical Speaker

Father Patrick Rogers, S.J., has spent more that three decades in the Society of Jesus, living out the Jesuit mission of faith, service and education. A native of Annapolis, MD, as the youngest of eleven children, he was raised in a close-knit Irish American family where music, faith, and service formed the central parts of daily life. Those early influences helped shape the warmth, humility, and sense of community that have become hallmarks of his ministry.

Father Rogers entered the Jesuit order in 1992 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2002. His academic journey reflects both intellectual curiousity and artistic talent. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music performance (clarinet) from Towson University. He received two master’s degrees, one in philosophy from Fordham University and the other in divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley. He later completed his doctorate at Georgetown University.

Throughout his ministry, Father Rogers has served at several distinguished Jesuit institutions, including Scranton Preparatory School, Georgetown University, and The University of Scranton. His most recent post in higher education was as the Vice President for Mission Integration at Le Moyne University, where he worked closely with students, faculty, and staff to foster the Ignatian values of discernment, service, and justice.

In addition to his pastoral and academic leadership, Father Rogers is also a gifted musician and trained opera singer who often incorporates music into his ministry, bringing people together in moments of reflection and joy.

Father Rogers also enjoys playing competitive tennis and basketball when time permits.

The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Lackawanna County are honored to welcome Father Patrick Rogers, S.J., as the Clerical Speaker for the 120th Annual Dinner.
